We prefer not to enter into a discussion about competing firms, their policies and products.  It is much more professional for us to concentrate on the features of our own product and service - you can then make your own comparisons with other products on the market to enable you to make an informed decision before you buy.  Installing a pond safety grid is one of the most important purchases you'll ever make - you'll only do it once and so you need to be sure you're choosing the right one for you.

First and foremost, Safapond Direct Ltd are the owners of the patent on pond safety grids. What this means is that we own the intellectual property rights on the design and any similar designs.  We were the originators of the idea of a modular pond safety grid - our legal protection is very wide and covers the design of metal beams going across the pond, supported by legs and/or support cord, with grids being clipped to the metal beams.  If any other product works in a similar way then it is our belief that this could infringe our patent and that we could seek substantial damages against anyone whose product works in a similar way. 

As the patent holders we've been supplying and fitting pond safety grids longer than anyone else.  For this reason, we've got a wealth of experience of how ponds differ, how each fitting needs to be approached, but more important than anything else, we know how to fit the SafaDeck safely.  All our authorised fitters are fully trained professionals who have been working with the SafaDeck for many years. 

Our support beams, which have been specifically designed for this product only, go through an extra manufacturing process – i.e. they are powder coated in black plastic – this means that when they are submerged into the water they become very discrete and won’t discolour over time.  In the top of each beam is a carefully designed channel into which the grids will connect.  This helps to restrict lateral movement and ensure overall stability.  The holes within our grid are triangular in shape and have been designed to prevent a small child’s head from entering the water.  Any holes greater than this may not be in compliance with British Standards, nor would they follow RoSPA’s recommendations, which state that a hole greater than 80mm x 80mm is potentially unsafe.  Also you need to know that our grids are made from glass-filled nylon, which is an industrial strength plastic, which is more expensive than lower grade alternative materials.

One of the single most important features of using Safapond Direct Ltd's team of authorised installers for your SafaDeck is the time taken to carry out the work.  It is our firm belief that something as vital as a child safety system needs to be installed carefully from start to finish, without compromise.  It is our guarantee to you that we will never rush the work, we will never cut corners and most important of all we will not leave your premises until the SafaDeck has been 100% tested for the safety and security of your children.  In effect, we will work as though it were our own children we are protecting – all of our installers have children themselves and understand the importance of a proper fitting every time.

A final point on price.  There are cheaper alternatives to the SafaDeck.  You can buy a net which you stretch across the pond.  You won’t be buying a firm solid structure and access to the pond may be restricted.  You can erect a cheap fence around the pond, but these can be climbed over and restrict the view of the pond.  You can have a metal grid or weld mesh placed over the pond which are heavy, unsightly and will rust.
